Doing the right thing

Helping communities and sustaining our environment

Social impact

Our mission to help people has always extended far beyond life insurance. A big part of our corporate culture is giving back to our community through volunteer fundraising, charities and scholarships. We’re proud of our ongoing charitable efforts. 2025 highlights include:

Charitable Giving Campaign:

In 2025, between our employees’ efforts and company match, Banner Life family of companies raised over $1 million through its Annual Charitable Giving Campaign. We raised money through Banner Life family of companies spirit competitions, ticketed events, sponsored activities, and salary donations.

Community Engagement:

We proudly support and encourage employee involvement in community events each year, including Maryland Special Olympics, Out of the Darkness Walk, Toys for Tots, and Frederick Pride. You and your coworkers volunteered more than 250 hours in 2025, how amazing!

Environmental sustainability

At Banner Life, we value our people and our planet. Our team is committed to reducing our impact on the environment and it shows.

We are proud to share
We’re proud to announce that our Urbana office has once again earned the EPA’s Energy Star certification for 2025 - scoring a 93, which means we are more energy efficient than 93% of similar buildings nationwide! This recognition highlights our team’s commitment to cutting energy waste and protecting the environment. Energy Star buildings generate 35% fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

We also prioritize a safe and healthy work environment. In November 2025, an independent third-party conducted a thorough indoor air quality assessment of our facilities. We are pleased to report that our air quality meets or exceeds all EPA and OSHA recommendations for health and safety.

Key findings from the assessment:
  • Ventilation: Our HVAC systems provide a healthy supply of fresh air throughout the building. To further reduce indoor air pollutants, we’ve started opening outside air dampers as recommended.
  • Common Pollutants: Levels of common pollutants—like VOCs, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter—were all well below established safety guidelines.
  • Temperature & Humidity: Our temperature and humidity levels are within the comfort standards set by industry leaders (such as ASHRAE Standard 55).
"All qualitative and quantitative analyses conducted by UL Solutions staff during this inspection indicate very good IAQ in this building. This is certainly a reflection of fine ongoing efforts by the engineering and management staff." UL Solutions
